An avatar is usually only a 100×100 pixel picture that is about 50k in size. It doesn’t really matter which OS you use. Icons are a specific file type called .TIFF or .PNG. They are usually interlaced and include a transparent forground, a component that only a powerful photo editing program like Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks would be capable of.

I can’t draw on the PC that good and I don’t know what else to do! Does anyone know someone who is making signature and maybe avatar pictures (for forums)? I just want one of those custom ones that other people have on forums.

An avatar image file should be a 50×50 px PNG, JPEG or GIF image that is smaller than 15 KB.
It may or may not be possible depending on the size and quality of the image.
To make it smaller, open the image in Paint (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint) – chances are, it’s saved in a format that takes up a lot of space, bmp is the most-common.
So, let’s save it in a lesser format and retain the image quality – click File > Save As.. – you’ll notice in the bottom-middle of the window it will say "Save as Type.." – click the down arrow and select .gif and click save.
Now that the image has been altered, try to upload it! You can double-check on it’s size by right-clicking on the file and selecting properties – it will be listed toward the bottom. If it’s still too large, you’ll probably have to use another picture.

I set it to a certain avatar face and it used to stay that way. In the last week, everytime I open a new spades table, my avatar changes to the blue devil face. What can I do?
I don’t know how to make it permant but if you click on the devil face it shall change. then keep clicking till you get the right avatar
I’ve seen people have the grey face avatars altered, with sad faces and even making them have tears on one avatar I seen.
I was wondering how do you alter it like that?
Click on the grey thing you have now and go to edit my preference and go to where it says picture and click on the first or second box and take it from there.

Ive imported a couple of animated gif’s into the avatar cache but when I select them they do not animate, only the first frame is visible. Is it possible to use animated gif’s for my avatars or not???
I am not advertising for Yahoo but I know that they try to keep up with the latest tech for everything including avatars. You could send them a message with the same question, and I would guess that they are already working on it but they could tell you when it will appear, and you would have done your part in setting it up.
Oh, you asked about MSN! What I say applies to them and Google and the rest. You could contact all of them and see which works best for you if you want to spend the time and trouble.
